Great place for a walk

Great place for a walk and to peak at the water. Not open on Sundays, but easy enough to get around without info.

This is the coolest little park and it is free, which is amazing considering there is a detailed museum and lots of boardwalks and paths that are well maintained. We find something new to love every single time we drop in. If you go at sunset, the views are just incredible. It feels like a quiet little piece of heaven... More

We had heard of it for years and decided to check it out. The park has many great hiking trails the area near the visitors center has a beach and board walk small but nice. The Visitor center has helpful informative staff and interesting exhibits.

This place is such a gem - it far exceeded my expectations. The park ranger at the museum was so nice to us. He let us borrow their binoculars to check out an osprey nest not far away. This started my 2 year olds love of binoculars! We enjoyed the easy path around the water and trees. There were hermit... More

First off it's a place of real history, when Naval ships were built from wood, this Live Oak Reserve was established, so there's some neat exhibits in the Visitor's Center and a cool display on the difference and value of this type of Oak Tree - but mostly today, this place is a great spot for a walk or hike... Great walking trails! A nice place to take the family for a day in nature. It is also a great place to take your dog for a walk or just get away.

Near to the visitor's center there is a picnic table that is literally 5' away from the water's edge. It is behind the pavilion with picnic tables and bathrooms. On the other side of Hwy 98, there is another parking area which takes you down to the Andrew Jackson path. It is a wide path that is too sandy to... More

Had a great time on the trail, waded in the water and even caught a tiny fish by hand, had cool educational signs along the trail. Saw amazing birds and huge skink. We packed a picnic lunch and ate after the hike. Was very neat day, was a little warm but was a good way to spend half a day... More
