The Best View in Town! Climb 177 steps up the historic Pensacola Lighthouse & Museum for one of the most beautiful views on the Gulf Coast. Built in 1859, the lighthouse is located on board NAS Pensacola. The top of the tower offers stunning views of Pensacola Pass (where Pensacola Bay meets the Gulf of Mexico), three forts, the Pensacola skyline and the historic Navy Yard. The fully restored Keepers' Quarters, built in 1869, is home to a museum and a gift shop. Visit this historic spot in America's First Settlement, established in 1559. Make a day of it and visit the National Naval Aviation Museum and Fort Barrancas while you're here. Our nature walk takes you to the white sands of beautiful quiet-water beach–a perfect beach for kids. Bring the family and a picnic lunch and stay a while. The Pensacola Lighthouse and museum is open 7 days/week. Special tours include Blue Angel practices, Light of the Moon and Ghost Hunts. Private tour and function times available as well.

I have to admit it doesn't get much better than this. If you are in the area and you like light houses this is a must see. It took us 171 stairs I believe that was the count to get to the top. It was...More

Enjoyed visiting the lighthouse, especially since it is basically right across the street from the Aviation Museum. I don't think it's worth making a special trip for the lighthouse, but if you're on the base already for the aviation museum or the fort it's worth...More

Wonderful had a great time loved the museum and climbed part of stairs. Must wear closed back shoes to climb stairs. Very child friendly Has part of lighthouse set up as it was when occupied by families years ago.

Peaceful, breathtaking view of paradise. Bring the family and your friends. Enter the base through the west gate if you don't have a military DoD ID card.

Climbed all of the way up and it was so worth it. Once up top, the view was amazing. Had to climb in my bare feet but that's ok. Had a great time.

This lighthouse is old but well maintained. The wrought iron steps leading up to the top of the lighthouse are very pretty. Once on top, the views of the ocean and beach are fantastic. But this isn't for the faint of heart- the spiral staircase...More

Neat place to visit for family. My 8 yr olds enjoy it much. Beautiful view at the top. Worth the visit and inexpensive. The stairs were long and bit challenging if your handicap or not a fit person. Not recommended if you're afraid of heights....More

This was such a good idea. When doing the dolphin cruise the captain pointed out the lighthouse and gave us some history on that and the two forts, Pickens and Barrancas. There was a little haunted story about the lighthouse. We decided to check it...More

Unfortunately children cannot be carried up; it's a Coast Guard regulation and a safety issue. Like you stated, what most guests do is take turns climbing; one or more in your party stays with the child/children while the... More
