This beach is amazingly clean and uncrowded. It was such a peaceful way to spend an afternoon. The $15 fee is worth it. Decent restrooms and outdoor shower at the first stop, but go down a few stops for the best beach.

We were staying on Perdido Key and discovered this National Park by accident. The beach is long, white and soft with lots of room for surf casters and swimmers. This is where the locals go to avoid the crowds on Pensacola Beach and we spent a marvelous day hanging out and doing some beach diving. If you enjoy not being... More

My husband and I visited this beach while on a getaway. We will definitely bring the kiddos back..it is also a great view for watching the Blue Angels practice.

Johnson Beach is an awesome place to go - part of the Gulf Island National Seashore, so it costs to get in but it's worth it. We go pretty far east on the beach once we get there so it's quite a walk but it's worth it to get away from the crowds. We've been warned there are nude sunbathers... More

Nice gentle waves on the day we went; some erosion on this beach like most in this area make it difficult to walk along the shore easily. I walked about 10 mins and turned around as it was not pleasant. I do love the gulf - but, the beaches on the east coast are so much more easy to walk... More

My boyfriend and I took out very first vacation together and decided to camp on Johnson beach. We couldn't complain about any thing except the hell of a walk that is required. I highly suggest a wagon or beach cart. Anything to help you haul all your camping gear on the almost 3 mile walk from the parking spot to... More

We stayed at a condo in Perdido Key which was across the street from a public beach access. There were too many people for our liking so we decided to try Johnson Beach. We were not disappointed. The beach was so quiet and peaceful. We visited the park everyday. We enjoyed sitting on the beach watching the dolphins swim by... More

Very nice beach with primitive camping. You can park about 1/2 mile from the end of the road, then it's about another 1/2 mile hike down the beach. Bring a cart to carry your stuff out to your campsite!!
