We visited Fort Barrancas with friends, for an education on this very interesting fort in a fort. The Spanish water battery built in 1787 sits below and slightly south of Fort Barrancas on Pensacola Bay. Both forts are connected by underground tunnels accessible to visitors. Our tour was self guided, but there are guides for tours at certain times daily.... More

Well preserved and rich in history. We had no idea Fort Barrancas existed, so our trip was highly educational. The construction alone was quite an engineering marvel.

As a child in the late 1950's we did lots of trips to Fort Barrancus. Since then it has had some restorations done and is a shining example of an old fort. Be prepared for lots of stairs and walking but it is definitely worth it. If you can, do a tour as they give lots of great information. It... More

The tour guide made all the difference. I learned more about fort construction, placement and operation than ever before. The history behind this fort is amazing.

This Fort was very clean and well maintained. Honestly it would have been so much better if we would have waited for a tour guide. They always know so much more than is written down in your pamphlet. So if you go call ahead to see the schedule. I found out later after some research a lot of cool facts... More

Living in the area, took time to visit as many of the landmarks as possible. The Fort is a historical place and was truly enjoyable to learn about it from the tour guide. I was able to take many photos and have enjoyed looking back at them.

Small fort, well preserved. Lots of history. Fun to explore. Beautiful views of the bay. Plenty of photo ops.

Got done eith the air museum and the kids still had some energy to burn off. We spent a few hours exploring the fort and the tunnels. Great old time outdoor family fun!
