There was also Park employees or volunteers dressed in period costumes giving presentations about the history of the Fort, its origins and various historical events and battles that occurred. I am a history nut, I loved this fort! In was very suprised that our tickets were free (MLK Holiday) I enjoyed walking around at my own pace and learning new things! I'll be back for sure!

Really good to learn about St. Augustine history. Once you get inside the fort, start from left to right to follow the timeline. Don't forget to check the bomb fire schedule. Specially if you are with children. There are restrooms. Nice to walk it around at night (flashlight recommended)

I am so glad I braved the crowds and bought admission to the Castillo. This fort inspired me at every turn. Walking through the rooms and spaces really sparks the imagination. I love soaking in the sun, history, and patina of places like this!

Enjoyed visiting the sites in town, including Castillo de San Marcos. A historic site, so free for active military.

With so much history and beauty in St. Augustine, the fort stands out as a must see. The cannon firing and the historical speech leading up to it was our favorite part! The views on the coastline and inlet from upstairs were breathtaking!

The fort offers demonstrations of antique rifle and cannon firing several times during the day. I was there for the demonstration and found it interesting. The elevated area inside the fort walls provides a nice place from which to shoot pictures of the surrounding area.

The Castillo is a must see spot in St. Augustine. So much history and well marked with displays sharing the details. Enjoyed watching the cannon firing drill. Go early in day as crowds grow and the heat of the day could make it difficult. Parking in front busy so used parking garage at visitor center, a short walk.

This fort is over 340 years old. Reenactment of canon firing. Very interesting. Great for whole family.
