Nice Historic Fort

We were there for the Gun and cannon fire salutes ,which was great seeing on a clear warm day. They made everything look official, with there reenactment of British Soldiers.

We had plans to take the ferry trip across to the fort but it wasn't running - I believe due to damage to the dock from the recent hurricane. So without that activity, it was a little lackluster - half mile nature walk was quick and they have nice, clean restrooms. We drove across the street to the beach and... More

Ferry not operating due to Huricaine Matthew damage. Disappointed we could not cross and there isn't really a lot else to do except a short nature walk. Clean bathrooms. We did, however see a Land Tortoise on the ocean side of the park-very cool.

This is a lovely spot. Nice parking area with shade trees and a picnic area. Small visitor center with an 8 minute movie. Short walk to the ferry which takes you to the fort. Currently, the ferry is not running. The docks were damaged in Hurricane Matthew. Enjoyed our visit.

So much early history of colonial Florida took place here and the rangers are very knowledgeable. Sadly hurricane Matthew damaged the pier and the ferry is not running across the river to the fort. It is hoped to resume early in 2017

Nice time with cool history. Park service does great job here. Boat ride and the guide teaching you about the experiences the soldiers went through. Nice half day thing to do.

The is a short, free stop where you will learn about the Spanish and French, then later British fighting for control of La Florida starting in the 1500's. There is a ferry that takes you to the fort but it was not operating due to hurricane damage.

Incredible historic spot. Well worth the effort to see. We grabbed a beer across the street and soaked up the view of the fort and the boats traveling down the waterway. Very cool spot to explore!
