The southern outpost of the Castillo San Marco is reached by motor launch from the mainland. Maintained by the US Park Service it is a look into our Spanish past and the battles they fought with the French for dominance in the New World

Excellent tour full of history. Both children and adults will enjoy the fort and boat ride to the fort.

This fort is in amazing shape for its age. I know a lot of it has been reconstructed, but it is still impressive in the way it has been preserved. The area the fort is located in, is very tranquil.

This was very nice to see, but we had to see it from a distance, the ferry is out due to the hurricanes. There were binoculars set up on stands so the adults and children alike could see the fort and the cannons that were mounted on it. This was a great rest stop and everyone there was so accommodating... More

This is a drive from most of the Historical sites in St. Augustine, but an easy drive. Very serene, quiet, nice walking trails. You will have to ferry across to the fort, free of charge. We have visited several times in the past few years.

My sister and I recently visited the Fort. At the beginning of our visit we had an informative National Monument ranger give us an overview of the Fort. She was very helpful. Her detailed information made our tour more valuable when we visited the different areas of the Fort ourselves. The cannon fire demonstration was fun. Wear sneakers.

We visited the fort just before Christmas. It was somewhat busy, but not overcrowded. As a national monument, annual or golden age passes are accepted for free entry. If possible, recommend joining a ranger tour for anecdotes to add to the self-guided history placards on site. The views of the beach & town are terrific and, if you time it... More

Learning about the history of the beautiful state of Florida was a great experience the free boat ride is my favorite part and we were accompanied by dolphins during our short boat ride to the fort. There is an amazing view from on top and this is a must-do for anyone in the area you are just across the street... More
