Description:

The St. Augustine Wild Reserve offers tours on an appointment-only basis....

The St. Augustine Wild Reserve offers tours on an appointment-only basis. We are not open on a daily basis like a large zoo, although we do offer two-hour tours, reserved in advance. Tours are held in the afternoon, usually on Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays at 2pm. Email as far in advance as possible to make reservations. Children under 5 are free. We may be able to schedule a tour on a different day, if we know far enough in advance.

Guests will be given a guided tour of the 7-acre animal compound by an experienced wildlife professional. An introduction to each species, basic biology, and how the species arrived at our sanctuary will be discussed in detail. Visitors will be allowed a close-up view of the exotic animals. Guests will be able to venture closer to adult African lions than they ever imagined. Also on the tour will be our amazing white tigers, several orange tigers, a very rare golden tabby tiger, cougars, servals, lynxes, leopards, hyenas, coati mundis, and a host of wolves ranging in color from black to white. We also have a large bird collection, which includes conures, macaws, Amazon parrots, lovebirds, and even parakeets, cockatoos, cockatiels, doves, quail and finches. We feed all of the big cats on the tour on most days, and set up a tiger bubblebath for one pair of tigers. We do not allow photography at this compound, however, we do offer a fabulous photo CD at the end of the tour for a small donation. You may photograph our beautiful peacocks, lovebirds and conures, which are outside of the compound near the guest waiting area. Thank you!

I couldn't believe the reviews of this place when my husband suggested a tour while we were in the St. Augustine area, so, we went with our two young kids, and this place just exceeded our expectations. The work that the owner and the volunteers are doing is just amazing - the animals are healthy, well-cared for, and are obviously... More

I totally agree with all the top reviews! It was a wonderful tour by fun and knowledgeable staff who clearly loves these gorgeous animals. The animals seem to also love the staff and it was surprising to see them interact. Get the .ppt CD at end of tour = fabulous photos of incredible wildlife. Hard to say whether I preferred... More

Wow, just wow! Who knew this place even existed. It's not downtown or on the beach, so many may not know about it, but it was amazing! Our tour guide Tammy was SO knowledgeable and so were all of the other VOLUNTEERS who run this place. Don't miss it. The Jacksonville Zoo is awesome, but THIS PLACE is beyond any... More

As the title suggests, anyone in the St. Augustine area should visit the reserve. The owner and volunteers are so knowledgable about animals. You receive a great education and get to see wild animals in an extremely close environment. Much better than a zoo - well worth the entry fee, and extremely kid friendly.

The volunteers at the St. Augustine Wild Reserve LOVE animals, especially the ones they are charged with caring for. When you hear the stories of the animals and how they came to live at the reserve, you will be touched. These are animals who would be put down, but for this reserve. Go and meet them, you won't forget them.

This is worth visiting! The animals are interesting and the volunteer guides have great stories. Even though the tour was an hour and a half long, it never got boring. It is truly amazing what these dedicated folks have done at this Reserve for wild animls. These animals probably would not have made it , unless this Reserve had given... More

Enjoyed our day at this wild life reserve. Staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. The rescue animals are loved and well taken cared for. Saw the wild animals up close and learned much about them. Met a "liger" for the first time - yes, it is a real animal!

We saw the Wild Reserve on trip advisor and since we were staying less than a mile from there, we thought we would take five of our children. The group was larger than normal but the staff did everything possible to ensure that all of the children had great views of the animals. The group we were with were all... More

This is so worth the time and money. The Tigers, lions and animals all looked so loved and well cared for. The entry fee goes entirely to looking after these beautiful animals. The center is manned by volunteers and they treated us well. There are also many birds, bears, wolfs and even a dear.

This was a remarkable outing. Reservations are required. The staff was informative, friendly and caring toward their animals. Seeing these creatures up close and responding to their caregivers was insightful. Watching the big cats play in the water was only part of the tour.
