Description:

The St. Augustine Wild Reserve offers tours on an appointment-only basis....

The St. Augustine Wild Reserve offers tours on an appointment-only basis. We are not open on a daily basis like a large zoo, although we do offer two-hour tours, reserved in advance. Tours are held in the afternoon, usually on Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays at 2pm. Email as far in advance as possible to make reservations. Children under 5 are free. We may be able to schedule a tour on a different day, if we know far enough in advance.

Guests will be given a guided tour of the 7-acre animal compound by an experienced wildlife professional. An introduction to each species, basic biology, and how the species arrived at our sanctuary will be discussed in detail. Visitors will be allowed a close-up view of the exotic animals. Guests will be able to venture closer to adult African lions than they ever imagined. Also on the tour will be our amazing white tigers, several orange tigers, a very rare golden tabby tiger, cougars, servals, lynxes, leopards, hyenas, coati mundis, and a host of wolves ranging in color from black to white. We also have a large bird collection, which includes conures, macaws, Amazon parrots, lovebirds, and even parakeets, cockatoos, cockatiels, doves, quail and finches. We feed all of the big cats on the tour on most days, and set up a tiger bubblebath for one pair of tigers. We do not allow photography at this compound, however, we do offer a fabulous photo CD at the end of the tour for a small donation. You may photograph our beautiful peacocks, lovebirds and conures, which are outside of the compound near the guest waiting area. Thank you!

I have visited the St. Augustine Wild Reserve many times over the years. Every time someone new visits my husband & I, this is one of our go to spots for our guests. Deborah and her staff are wonderful. The love and compassion they have for these great animals is clearly obvious. Plan to be surprised at how close you... More

Its a nonprofit exotic animal sanctuary and has some 400 animals- like lions, tigers,, leopards, panthers, bears and even a liger (cross or offspring of lion and tiger). This is home of last resort for some exotics.

The St. Augustine Wild Reserve was by far my favorite vacation experience. It was not only breathtaking to be so close to such beautiful animals, but it also felt good to know that I was participating in something that helps animals rather than harms them. Nothing can really compare to watching tigers play in bubble bath. The staff members were... More

The animals were primarily large cats; different species of tigers and lions. As other reviewers stated, it is obvious that the volunteers and handlers love these animals. Safety was number one but most of the animals allowed their handlers to pet, scratch.and play with them. It seems the animals have a sense of humor by splashing handlers during their "bubble... An amazing tour of the non-profit sanctuary and lots of information about the animals there. I never realized that there were so many kinds of tigers! You will be able to get pretty close to them and will appreciate how BIG they are. It was hot the day of our tour, but water, cold washcloths and a chance to sit... More

Lions and Tigers and Bears... Oh My! Driving up to this sanctuary, you feel like you took a wrong turn into someones neighborhood. But once you enter the gates it is amazing! The tour guide is incredible knowledgeable and you are literally 5 feet away from huge animals. I highly recommend it.
