My wife and I visited the Preserve to do some long hikes. We hiked from the trailhead on SR 46 to Katie's Landing. The rangers had torn up the trail and bushhogged a lot of trees and foliage on both sides of the trail. The deep sand was really difficult to hike though making for a misreable hike. The scenery... Stay away from the blue blaze trail is my advise. The rangers have done some discing and the trail is torture. Sugar sand is very thick and trail is mostly in the sun along the blue blaze. The white and yellow blaze trail was enjoyable and I highly recommend. The blue blaze connector between Loop 1 (yellow blaze) and Loop... More

Great riding trails with access to Wekiva River via Katie's Landing. Trails are well marked and fairly easy to follow. I started out at the trailhead on SR 46. No restroom facilities but there is parking, maps at the kiosk, and admission is FREE. You will find restrooms at Katie's Landing. Beautiful Florida landscaping and lots of wildlife. Definitely worth... More

If you need to unwind, this is the place to go. We enjoyed an hour or so of kayaking, we had lunch on the bank (picnic) and just took in the birds, and yes, even an occasional alligator sunning on a log.

We have hiked this area several times and we always see something new. This is a very nice hike. There were plenty of deer and bear tracks but we did have the pleasure of seeing deer or bear this time. We did see turkey and fox squirrels. There are different trails you can hike and they are all very nice.

This ranks at the top of our recent hikes. Wonderful day in nature. Only saw two other people while we were out there A mixture or prarie and cover. Wildlife sightings were minimum today, but there was a bear close by on two occasions. One was withing smelling distance (yup, pretty close), and the other was around 150 feet away.... More

An amazing location to submerge yourself in natural spring waters, canoe down the river and spot wild gators. Bring a picnic or bbq and have an amazing day!

Our nephew had his son's birthday party at the Wekiva River State Preserve. Lovely setting, playground for children and grills and picnic tables available. Restrooms close by as well.
