Beautiful downtown.

Went to dinner at the Willow cafe which was excellent German food. Visited various shops. All shops appeared to be locally owned, several art shops where we spent a lot of time.

Got to the Autotrain early so we had some time to spend in Sanford (which is maybe a mile or so from the station). It's a pretty town with lots of nice, quaint shops. We spent a little time on the main street and had coffee in one of the restaurants. We spent most of our time on the RiverWalk.... More

Has become a much better place to walk around. more opened stores to visit, clean streets, Also not get hit on by individuals. I don't mind taking my grandkids now for walks.

Quaint antique shops, good local food, and evening activities, plus you can take a walk along the water after dinner!

Visited downtown Sanford,Florida September 19,2016 with my wife, sister and her husband. We went into several of the local antique shops and stores located along the Main Street and ate at the German Cafe. There is also a river walk and Marina with several restaurants and pizza parlors nearby. Once a month usually on a Thursday night the streets are... More

I like downtown Sanford, it is always clean, the small businesses there really work hard to make it look its best.

I thought there would be a lot of different kinds of merchants here, just a bunch of bars with a handful of antique shops.

The old downtown is a great place to visit. The core streets are brick. There is lots of renovating going on in downtown Sanford. Places are being fixed up and transform, but all the will keeping the old quaint style in mind. Local brewery and pubs are popping up to go with several really good restaurants. Lots of little shops... More

If you are looking for great food, this is the place. Or, simply the best fried baloney sandwich I have ever eaten at the down home style Colonial Room. There are plenty of neat stores to browse in, a Blues club, ghost tours, and a performing arts theater. Don't forget the Sanford Av. section. It is just as full of... More

This area is much better than it used to be. For about a mile you have a beautiful historic area great for walking, riding a bike, etc. There's also a nice lakeside stretch on lake Monroe. The downtown Sanford area is small but quaint. There are some little gems here and there including a great little antiques dealer.
