Wonderful, worth the time and trouble to get to their museum and exhibit hall, closes at 5, so plan accordingly. The staff is very friendly, the demonstrations are interesting, and the museum is small but not crowded.

The best part of the visit was the 30 minute talk given in the lower level. The presenter took several animals out of a large aquarium, and talked about each. These talks are given at several intervals throughout the day. The rest of the museum...More

Everything you ever wanted to know about shells! Good exhibits, informative video, knowledgeable staff that provide "tank talks" and shell crafting available. Nice, small gift shop with quality items. If you have ANY interest in shells, this is a "don't miss" museum!

We loved the Shell Museum; beautiful and interesting displays. Went to a Tank Talk hosted by Austen who made it very interesting and funny - what a wealth of knowledge.

The museum was interesting and informative. The displays were beautiful and age appropriate. The gift shop was very nice. Most of all the staff was nagging and knowledgeable. They answered all our questions and made some great suggestions for shelling.

Thanks for your review. I'm sorry you had to "shell out" real dollars instead of shell currency at the Museum store. LOL

I was on a business trip in Fort Myers and decided to take a drive over to Sanibel Island and visit the Shell Museum. Although I wasn't too happy about having to pay a $6.00 toll to get on the island, the trip to the...More

We learned so much from this museum. Not only that but we were able to make crafts with shells as a keepsake! This is a great place if you are on the island and you run into a rainy day!

The museum has several exhibits on the main floor although some small items like a microscope were not working. There are examples on most of the types of shells found on local beaches and the animals that produce the shells. There is a small gift...More
