Following a day visit to Sanibel and Captiva, we stopped by Bowman's beach for a quick sunset view. At 5:30, the lot is fairly empty. Parking is $4.00 per hour. The beach is a ling walk throug easily market paths, that cross 2 bridges that allow fisitors to stop and observe the local wildlife. Crossing though the dunes, you see... More

Went to island by reading and looking at pics on phone, believe me it's not piled with shells, it's piled with people, to many! Had to look for parking spot thirty minutes, then found out it was 4 dollars an hour to park, after fighting stop and go traffic was wore out. There are better beaches and water without having... We visited Bowmans beach and had a wonderful experience. Parking was plentiful and there was a short walk to the beach from the parking area. Bathrooms were clean and grounds were maintained. There are showers for rinsing off the sand and water filling stations. This is a shell collectors paradise!

First you have to pay to get on the island - $6. Then it's ridiculous to have to pay $4 an hour to go to the beach. I didn't find the shelling all that great and I went at low tide a couple of times. Go to a Collier County beach instead. Sanibel traffic is always a nightmare.

What an amazing beach! There are changing areas and bathrooms before getting to the beaches. It is quiet and just magnificent!

Our 1st trip to sanibel and it was a freat start at Bowmans. Long stretches of sand, easily accesible from the parking lot..we have a handicap sticker and didnt have to pay the pricey parking fee Nice. The water was warm. Needed pointers on finding those shells though.

We have a small family with both pre-school and middle school children and had a fantastic time! The parking, access to outdoor showers, and beach access all made for an enjoyable adventure! We timed our trip to coincide with absolute low-tide and had plenty of beach and shells to keep us busy for hours!! Kids and parents alike had a... More

This beach is just a nice place to chill and read a book. The water was crystal clear but the beach itself could use some beach nourishment. The area to sit and relax appears to have lost some of its beach since it becomes narrow in spots at high tide.

We visited a beach near Bowmans. Shelling as advertized was better than any we've been to. Shops search and get best shell before sunrise, but we found many we've never seen.
