Crossing the causeway, either way, is one of the pleasures of visiting Sanibel Island. It's not the cheapest ($6 for cars) but worth it. Nice road, two nice bridges, amazing views, and a chance to see other people having fun on the two little islets.

Alongside of the roadway there is public beach access on both sides. The beaches are white sand with palms trees. Wind and kite surfers provide a diversion if you don't feel like a swim.

The causeway itself is the only road onto Sanibel, which makes it awesome in and of itself. It is, however, a very well kept up road/bridge with great views, cool birding, and easy driving. It was not crowded or backed up when I crossed which...More

Driving over this causeway is a breathtaking experience. If you are lucky enough to have perfect weather, as we did. Thad sun shining on the water and just the expansion itself is pretty remarkable.

The only way to drive to the island. $6.00 to the island and free to get back to Fort Myers. A very clean and smooth roadway.

We spent a few days visiting the island. The causeway is very beautiful and clean. It does cost to go across, but is worth the breathtaking views. The lighthouse beach has become our favorite beach. We visit Sanibel every trip.

It's a fabulous drive onto the Islands, the bridge & causeway are really impressive & you feel you are entering another world (or leaving it) as you cross. Dramatic

A bit pricey, $6 to cross, but nice view and easy access to Sanibel and Captiva. The water is gorgeous here and people windsurf and fly pretty kites off the beaches on way in.

I’ve never heard of anyone getting married there. There’s no reason you can’t, other than the traffic noise
