Big Cat Habitat and Gulf Coast Sanctuary provides a sanctuary "for life" for the exotic animals currently calling the sanctuary home. Our goal is to create habitats that mimic native environments and are complete with a staff that can provide daily behavioral, sensory, and manipulative enrichment which is the basis for a happy healthy animal in captivity. As we grow and open our habitat to more rescues we will provide the same excellent care while educating the public.

We enjoyed watching the interaction between the incredible rescue animals and their caretakers. The alligator and big cat show was very informative and fun. The animals obviously love the exercise, treats, and human interaction. My son loved the energetic dogs, tiger and liger. This is...More

If you want to see big animals up close, this is what you will see. If you are looking to support a true sanctuary for animals, you might be disappointed. These animals mostly exotic pets that the owners could not properly care for or retired...More

The layout of the Cat Habitat is a little bit awkward. When you first enter, it looks a bit like a cheap zoo with a few bears and a tiger. However, when you really discover the place, you'll find an amazing family of people who...More

This sanctuary is not to be missed. Thrilling stories of rescue and rehabilitation as well as making these big animals as comfortable as they can in a captive environment. The bears are seen playing and swimming in a pool, large grounds for them to wander,...More

Took my daughter who is an animal lover - we had a great day! Nice to see how they care for their animals. Great opportunity to get up close and interact (feeding).

Lions and other cats are housed in tiny quarters allowed outside in shifts. They constantly pace in the closed cofines of their cages.Circus atmosphere as the MC proclaims the benevolence of the organization while forcing the giant cats to sit on tiny perches. Very sad...More

We love taking the little kids to Big Cats. We all learn so much. The work they do there is amazing. I am an older person who turns into a kid when I am there. What a gift this place is for Sarasota.

Wonderful local attraction highlighting care of rescued big cats and exotic animals. Not just for the kiddies (although they do have a petting zoo pony rides and opportunities to feed the bears and big cats!). On the day we went we got to see an...More
