I deliberately bought a condo close to the Legacy trail which is a real bonus if you enjoy cycling, walking, jogging, rollerblading etc. Can get busy at weekends, but never too crowded. Plenty of rest areas, with two main washroom areas at just past Laurel and Colonia crossings.

Very nice bike trail that starts in mid-county and goes to City of Venice where you can connect to the Venetian Waterway Park, so you can cover many miles. Not an urban trail until you get to the City of Venice. It's Florida, so be prepared if its May - September for heat. And watch the winds, it can be... More

This is a great attraction for the Venice area. We rented bikes at Real Bikes of Venice, which is a very good shop located right on the Legacy Trail. We biked down to Casperson Beach, and then back north on the LT. They've done a great job to develop this bike trail.

It has many parking lots at different points and is very clean and flat. The views can sometimes leave something to be desired and it closes at dusk. I recommend going before 11 AM or after 4 PM to miss the sun at it's highest point.

If you have a bike this is the trail to go on plan on spending one day on this trail and you still wont finish but it has beautiful scenery all the way up and down.

If you enjoy biking you will enjoy the Legacy rail especailly during the cooler months. It is all paved, but there is no shade so wearing a hat and sunscreen imperative. Remember to bring water there is none on the trail.

Best to ride this with a buddy, since up until the 2 miles before Venice, there is not much to look at other than palmettos and trees on either side.

We got on the trail at Culverhouse Nature Park and rode south toward Venice. If you want a flat, asphalt trail, this is it. Plenty of restroom facilities spaced along the way, as well as benches and covered rest areas. For awhile you hear traffic noise but finally get away from it. One review talked about mostly open and sunny... More

We started our ride heading south from the Osprey Junction trailhead with bikes from Venice Bikes, delivered to us right at the trailhead; a real plus. The day was perfect so we decided to ride past the Venice train depot all the way to the end of the Venetian Waterway trail, about a total of 11 miles one way. There... More

Beautiful preservation of land that allows safe place to bike and enjoy nature....paved and safe....you can of course walk but it can become a little boring and isolated....better for biking and the trail goes all the way to Venice, with great water views...
