Walk in the park

I really enjoy walking at Rothenbach park. Some sun and some shade. 2.75 mile walking trail or 1 mile trail. Restrooms available-clean too. Also a play yard for children.

Great play ground and mile loop for the kids on bikes. The 4 year olds even attacked it. Great place for a play date. Ate a picnic lunch too. Lots of shaded picnic tables and a piñata post! How smart!

Built on an old county dump, but you'd never know it. 3 mile paved trail thru woods and sloughs, lots of wildlife. bring your bike or walk it, and picnic out on part of the trail if you like. Playground for the kids near the parking area, plus a shorter more open trail around the field in front. Great way... More

My grandkids had a great time at the playground, hiking the trail and riding their scooters. It is not a crowded park but has some nifty things.

This is a great park to go for a walk or a bike ride. This was the first time I saw Spanish moss on trees. Very special for someone, who never encountered this before. Great wildlife and easy walk on the paved paths.

What a delightful way to spend a few hours walking around a pristine lake and through large oak trees. The place is just so serene and zen like

The entrance welcome sign says it all -- "From trash to treasure." The former site of Sarasota's solid waste disposal site is now a totally transformed public park with an extensive lake view walking trail, picnic pavilions and playground.

Rothenbach is a great place to walk and ride your bike. There are gators in the pond, armadillos and deer along the walk. Lots of spiders, wildflowers. Lush Florida greenery. Much of the walk is covered with trees and the rest is in direct sunlight which is very difficult for me. It's a very photogenic place.

Built on an old landfill, it has one of the best, albeit short, bike routes around. About 3 miles plus another one mile one next to it. You may see a gator or a deer (we saw both). Also, in the center (a diff. path) there is a model airplane strip which is used on occasion by some pretty fancy... More
