We were very impressed as to the layout of this museum. If you follow the signs, your walking tour takes you from the earliest history of the state of Florida up to the present day. The displays are enjoyable from the youngest toddlers to the senior citizen. From small dioramas to giant displays. To little time and space here to... More

A must-do at Tallahassee. Vast. Allow at least two hours. Something for all ages. This is a Florida treasure. No fee. Donations welcomed.

Florida history in 4 hours give or take. This is a very comprehensive exhibit of the state's early to current history. This museum will take some time if you do it thoroughly. The problem is you get a little brain dead after about two to three hours! Nice that it's free. Great to do it over two days or more.

A great way to relive the history of Florida - great displays and kids will love it. Only takes an hour and is free (they of course take donations). If you want to see what "Old Florida" is like - you'll love this place. Worth the time to visit.

This small museum is one of my favorites. It's located in downtown Tallahassee, has a lot of interesting displays, and is free to enter, although they do suggest a donation. There is a mastodon skeleton, displays of prehistoric pottery and arrowheads, a colonial Spanish display, and many other displays of Florida history going up to the WWII era. You can... More

I got a chance to see the museum and it was cool. It's not terribly large but well put together. The citrus area was the most interesting. There is an extensive area of Native American exhibits as well.

There was not nearly enough time in our 2 1/2 hour stop at this location on a Saturday afternoon. There were many nice displays and artifacts for the last 10,000 years of Florida history, but tickly the last 500. Great stop for history buffs who enjoy learning and seeing history. If you have limited time, focus on the map that... More

Nice museum in a fairly quiet part of downtown Tallahassee. Offers an overview of Florida history from the prehistoric to the modern era. Extensive collection of antiques

We don't personally believe the world is billions of years old, but once we get past that part of the museum, we enjoy the history of Florida and its different roles in our more recent history. The depictions of the Indians is well done and consistent with historical documents. Parking is free when you bring in the ticket for validation.... More
