This is about a 40-45 minute drive from downtown Tallahassee. It's a beautiful setting, lots of water everywhere, tons of birds and great views. The history is interesting, especially the Civil War connection. The lighthouse is nice to look at but that's all you can do. You can't go in. The adjoining keepers house, added later, is also boarded up.... More

A must see in the area. You will see Allgators and many different species of birds. It's is a well kept area, the admission price around ten dollars. You can film, picnic, fish or just enjoy being part of a special ecosystem. Teaching children about our natural world is a must, the Lighthouse is a good start. I have never... More

A visit to the Saint Marks Lighthouse is like a trip back in time. There is a plaque outside the lighthouse that details it's amazing history. History like the time the Confederates removed and hid the giant mirror in the swamp to keep it out of the hands of the union....and more. Also, on the three or so mile drive... More

The location of this lighthouse provides great opportunities to watch nature in conjunction with seeing the light. The only drawback is you can't climb the light. It likes like it would provide a breathtaking sight of the wildlife reserve as well as the water. As you turn off Highway 98 onto Lighthouse road, keep you eyes open for the wildlife.... More

I've been several times with a variety of groups of friends. There's great, easy nature trails with flowers and butterflies. Plenty of picnic benches so it's a great outdoor lunch spot.

Went here today with my boyfriend and my friend. Lovely scenic route out to the lighthouse, and a great walking trail around the area. However, there are some VERY dangerous oysters that will cut your feet if you are not careful. Let's just say that what was supposed to be a fun trip to the lighthouse ended with a 2.5... More

the water is gorgeous and you might just see some gators. Local wildlife and beautiful nature all around. Perfect for a walk or a picnic. The gift shop features all the local wildlife souvenirs.
