Overview
More
Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo is home to more than 1300 animals and famous for having one of the most beautiful, tropical zoological settings in the world. The Zoo brings together animals and visitors to create unforgettable, natural connections. Guests get closer to wildlife than ever before by touching a giant tortoise, feeding a giraffe, getting nose-to-horn with an Indian rhino, hand-to-fin with slippery stingrays and more! Families can also splash in water play areas, feel thrills on rides and take in educational shows. Love manatees? The Zoo is the only place in Tampa where guests can see Florida manatees year round. At the David A. Straz Jr. Manatee Hospital, the Zoo’s veterinary and animal-care staff treat sick, injured and orphaned manatees, and return them to the wild after rehabilitation. The Zoo also cares for the most diverse group of Florida wildlife anywhere, and has won numerous awards for animal preservation.

My son bought me an annual pass for Christmas. My 2 year old grandson and I thoroughly enjoy spending a few hours every other week. The animals have clean enclosures and look very well cared for. It is easy for a child in a stroller...More

Very clean. Nice staff. The animals seem so happy. I know that sounds funny but they do. We really enjoyed going here.

We are zoo members so we have been a few times this year already. We decided to go for the afternoon because the weather was so beautiful. We like this park because it's not usually over crowed and you can see most of the animals....More

This used to be a nice zoo, but no longer. Many of the green spaces have been converted into theme park attractions, mostly for young children. While some animals were possibly well fed, many were in poor condition. Many cages were filthy, and many animals...More

My first visit to Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo was a pleasant surprise. This is one of the cleanest zoos I have ever been to. The animals appear to be all well cared for and this zoo doesn't smell like a typical zoo. Beautifully landscaped, broad...More

I’ve been to several zoos and this one was not that great. The manatee exhibit is not open nor was the tiger exhibit. The safari was good. The little amusement park area was ok for my kids as well. Overall I was not impressed with...More

We visited and the rides for children were not running at all (none of them and they have a section designated just for them). Maybe this was because it was a Monday? Whatever the reason it was disappointing. The underpass to another section of the...More

We only had a few hours to spend here, but could have spent much more time! The manatees exhibit is closed right now but I'm excited to see the new area when it's done! It sounds like it will be amazing for the animals and...More

Unfortunately we went on a cold day and most of the animals were in their beds, away from visitors. The only animals we saw were on the safari ride and the birds. Unfortunately the manatees enclosure was drained for upgrades. If it was a warmer...More

I called the zoo and they have small lockers for a very small fee. At the front please ask and they may be able to set your larger case at the front office. It's such a family friendly place. The weather is perfect.
