About
Do you see yourself looking over the vast Serengeti plains, searching the horizon for a glimpse of a pride of Lions, or a Leopard lounging in the trees? Do you imagine yourself in India, riding an elephant through the high grass with your eyes peeled for the elusive Tiger? Have you ever thought how great it would be to hike through the rainforest, listening to the tropical birds, ever on the lookout for a Leopard or an Ocelot high in the canopy? Have you ever been to the zoo and wanted to be closer to the exotic cats; so close you could almost touch them? You don't have to spend tens of thousands of dollars to make these dreams come true. The world's largest accredited big cat rescue facility is right here in Tampa, Florida at Big Cat Rescue.

It's sad hearing about what some of them went through, but happy they now have somewhere safe. They are beautiful animals.

They do good work with rescued animals.

They do some good work for rescued cats, both big and small! You need to be led around by a volunteer tour guide, but that gives you the chance to have your questions answered.

Always an absolute delight

I have visited Big Cat Rescue in Citrus Park many times and the staff and volunteers are always courteous, the cats are well kept, and in enrichment-filled and large enclosures. The recent posts below have obviously been posted by people who have never been to Big Cat Rescue and all they know of the sanctuary is the inaccuracy shown in a Netflix show. Having been to Big Cat Rescue in person many times, I can say with 100% honestly that the cats are provided the very best possible care, but very devoted and compassionate people. Big Cat Rescue is accredited by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries, and they have worked with Animal Defenders International as well as The Humane Society of the United States. If you take the time to wade through the fake, 1-star reviews by people who have nothing better to do than spread false information, you will see the true, 5-star reviews by the many, many people who have visited over the years.

Awful experience

I cannot recommend this place to anybody. The whole place smells terrible, there's long grass growing where there shouldn't be, the cats don't seem as happy as they should be, the cages are too small.. not a nice place. If I could rate lower than 1 star I would.

Big cat rescue is a joke

Very poor conditions for these animals, absolutely appalling. Obviously the people working there have no clue what they’re doing.

Not worth it!
Jun 2019 • Family
Apparently they don’t do these tours anymore, but of course they don’t advertise or inform people of that. I went incredibly out of my way and had to pay $200 instead of $50. Not a big variety of big cats and disappointing they had 0 Florida Black Panthers, a native animal to the area... This appears to be all about Netflix ratings and money, not worth it!!!

They dont do these tours anymore, I went all the way there and had to pay over $200 instead of $50. Went ahead and paid $200 and there were not many cats at all. It's all a money grab. Do not recommend.
