It was a pleasant stroll. A little bit touristy area, but still has a character. Sponges, sponges everywhere.

Unfortunately we hit it too early. You can also take excursions and fishing boats. Nice walking village. Take a drive into it, you will be surprised how pretty some areas are.

Quaint little town, a lot of nice shops, MANY sponges to choose from.
Before you park at the main parking lot, drive down on the main road and by Anibells, you can park for $4 .
Many choices of restaurant to eat traditional Greek food.
They also have Dolphins boat rides.

Unique experience, wish I would have known what time the boats come in as I think it would have added to the experience

I am almost 50 and have been visiting the Sponge Docks since I was age 4. It has great restaurants, souvenir shops, and you can go out on short boat rides.

Went to this area which is known as the sponge capital of the world. History lesson learned they have boat tours explaining the Tarpon Spring history which is interesting. We did not take the tour but one of the guides told us a little about the area and how it was founded etc.

We enjoyed eating at Hellas and walking around to the shops. We didn’t really see the sponge boats along the water. We also enjoyed the Tarpon Spring Heritage museum. This is about a mile from the sponge docks. I enjoyed walking over and seeing all of the historic homes. There a lot of them with many near the museum.

Just spent an afternoon walking around the Sponge Docks and enjoyed a great lunch and a few libations. Absolutely worth a visit. It’s a very unique attraction in Florida with loads of History!

My husband and I visited the area as a day trip. Neither of us had been to dock since the pandemic had started. We were pleased to see the area is still thriving. Both of us agreed that other coastal areas like Cedar Key would have such potential like the sponge docks if they just tired. The businesses and restaurants there were friendly and welcoming. I would suggest anyone near the area to go and see for yourself. Just keep in mind that you do have to pay for parking.
