Cool Breeze + Water Lapping the Ledge + Gorgeous Tree Canopy + Jet Skiers and boaters Smiling as they pass
The moment was absolutely perfect. I felt as though I was a child again exploring Suriname with my family in December, boating out to a private island to fish for piranhas. I felt I was taken back to simpler times when I felt that I had the best life imaginable, and I was invincible because I was wrapped in a bubble of love by my family. My analytical mind took a breather, and I was finally able to just BE…in the present moment…and feel bliss. I felt safe, secure, comfortable, and at peace. What a delightful moment that I intend to treasure for a lifetime. Anderson park really provided a great atmosphere… I very much look forward to visiting again.

We visited the park a couple of times during our stay at the local KOA. The park is perfect to walk or run. The trail meanders along the lake with a pretty boardwalk. This park has a HUGE dog park at the top of the hill. We took our lab there both times we visited and he spent over and hour each time exploring. We saw plenty of birds, flora and a baby gator (from the boardwalk). Just a beautiful places to spend some quiet time.

This is a lovely park... Nice boardwalk trail next to the lake and also wooded trails. Picnic area, boat launching area. Spend 15 minutes or several hours...

Yesterday, I took my family to Anderson Park for our first visit. Anderson Park is located on the north bound entrance of route 19 in Tarpon Springs. It's entrance is easy to pass by. The entrance sign is done in brick and stone walls on either side of the entrance. This Pinellas County Park is free with the exception of use of the boat launch.
This park, like many in this part of Florida, is beautiful. It sits on the northwest end of Lake Tarpon. However, don't expect much water access. There is no beach and water views are somewhat limited.
We found a place to park near the playground sign and headed up the stairs. While Florida is mainly flat, there is a little bit of elevation to deal with here. The playground area is in great shape with fresh wood chips. The picnic shelters provide a nice area complete with charcoal grills. At least one picnic shelter sits right on the lake making spectacular views.
We heard there was wildlife to be seen. Upon looking at the lake from one of the picnic shelters, we did see 6 or 8 turtles swimming around, sometimes sticking their heads up. They are probably used to people feeding them their extra lunch. We did not see any gators, but I'm sure they are around at the right time of the year.
While not a deal breaker, I did notice a little bit of trash around and the lawn looks like it might be due for a cut. These were relatively minor on both accounts and did not really hinder the enjoyment of our visit.
I've included several pictures including the entrance, roads, playground, picnic shelters, lake and more.

We stumbled across this place just across from our hotel. There is a short walking trail through the park, but on that short trail, we watched an alligator climb out of the water to share a woman's biscuit. She took her biscuit and left! The park edges Lake Tarpon. We saw Roseatte Spoonbills and a variety of other shore birds. The boardwalk is a great place to view wildlife.

The reason I now rate this park as poor. I remember when Anderson Park had a staff to maintain it. The restrooms were always clean and OPEN. The Park manager lived in the park. And now, no staff work there. They have a "floating" crew to maintain this once beautiful park.
Whenever there are budget cuts, Parks and Recreation are always the first to suffer. This park is a perfect example of that.

I have visited this park before, but I saw it today with new eyes. That is because I saw it in its entirety. I used to come in and go straight at the stop sign. Today I turned right...took the road less traveled, if you will. I had no idea how big the park was or how many beautiful views you could have access to of Lake Tarpon. If you fish, there are many points of access to the water. If you boat, there is a boat launch. If you hike, there is a variety of paths and some nice terrain not necessarily abundant in this section of Florida. If you have children, there is a large play area. And as always, if you enjoy the sun, you will never be disappointed...and plenty of natural shade for a reprieve. Another benefit, there is not an entrance or parking fee, so those on a budget can play and relax in peace! Don't miss this one...not one inch of it...you will not be disappointed!

Beautiful park set on Tarpon Lake. Saw alligator by shelter on lake, plus lots of turtles and fish swimming around the dock.

This is a beautifully designed park for privacy or playing with your dog at the included dog park. Launch a boat; walk about; have a picnic under the gorgeous old live oaks. Immerse yourself in nature & be renewed.

This is a huge park that offers a variety of activities such as kayaking, walking along many trails, sitting at benches for lunch or out by the water, etc. They have short trails and long trails. There is something for everyone and there are so many beautiful spots. This park never disappoints.

Do I need to reserve a shelter for a small event? And if so, is there a fee to do so?
Written 20 December 2018
If it’s during the week, a reservation is probably not needed, but for a weekend, it would be wise.
