We chose the Canoe Outpost for a family outing as it was a decent price and had canoeing and kayaking options. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We chose a canoe, which also held our cooler, and a single and a double canoe. The entry to the river is right there and then they pick you up and drive... More

The gentleman that checked us in on Saturday April 29, I believe the owner or the owners son, is always very kind and professional but he is the only one anymore that is. We have been coming here for several years and in the beginning it was very pleasant. The kid who picked us up on Saturday is not a... More

We usually rent kayaks from Little Manatee River State Park but they were not renting due to their Spring event and demonstrations. We are both working Moms and have limited time, so our kayaks trips are a very special treat for us. We are usually limited to just a few hours to ourselves once a month. We drove to Canoe... More

A day that we will soon not forget. First, we had a very sarcastic employee upon arrival. Example, when we asked how long the trip takes he replied 3 days. Did not give us much information about anything to do with this trip that we were about to embark on. Not even the small map that we found out later... More

We did the 2.5 hour trip down the river and really enjoyed it. The river is slow and fairly shallow. We had to get out and drag the boats a few times but we were warned the water was very low and that would be the case. There were several fairly technical stretches that required moderate paddling skills but since... More

Not your typical camping experience. Site 63 and 68 were close to US 301. Traffic noise was unbearable first night and thankful my friend had earplugs for night two which helped me get a good nights sleep. Cost is $5.00 to launch your Kayak from the Canoe Outpost. We paddled upriver and turned around and paddled back to Outpost. The... More

Thanks for your visit and your comments. Since I live on the property, I know that being located on Hwy 301 has pluses and minuses. For most folks, and I hope for you too, the fun experience available here helps to dampen any traffic noise. Hope to see you on the river again. More

Very interesting, displays, friendly staff, great view of the river and alligators. Food was ok. Over done had alligator. Would go again. Great place to take out of towners.

Your review makes reference to food and displays that describe the Linger Lodge on the Braden River. We are glad you enjoyed your visit there but that business is not related to the Canoe Outpost. We would welcome your visit to paddle the Little Manatee River and let your out of town visitors experience some great Florida nature. More

The kayak river trail was fun, some parts were shady and some areas sunny. A little current which was nice, until there was a tree across our path, we tried a few times to pass over, we got stuck, my dad wanted to get out to walk over it. The current was strong, I didn't want to. So we turned... More

Thanks for your comments and for expressing your concerns. Your visit was shortly after the recent hurricane had taken down that big tree. Although we had many customers before and after your trip that made it around that tree, I do understand that you may have found it challenging and had concerns for your dad. Not all experiences are suitable... More

I've visited this location twice with a marine science group out of USF. We kayak along the river while collecting and testing water and soil samples. Check the water level before scheduling this outing as it determines the amount of paddling and the number of obstacles. Incredibly relaxing and authentic Florida surroundings. Incredibly dependable boarding and return ride arrangements.

Thanks for posting your review. We are always happy to have naturalists and natural science folks come and paddle the Little Manatee. Designated as an "outstanding Florida water", the Little Manatee is a great example of natural Florida. Thanks for visiting the river and the outpost. More
