The Springer Opera House is a beautifully restored Edwardian style Opera House that was built in 1871. This National Historic Landmark was named the State Theater of Georgia by Governor Jimmy Carter in 1971. Today it is the region's premeire professional theatre that annually produces 13 shows with talent from Los Angeles to New York. I brought my girlfriend to see "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" performed/ shown at the McClure Theatre for her Bachelorette Party Night. We had an absolute BALL! They gave us a bag of fun props to use during the 7:30 pm showing and even had a LIVE Shadow Cast continually acting out characters responses during the entire film. I was... More

Hello! I'm so glad to hear you and your girlfriends enjoyed "Rocky Horror." It's one of my personal favorites and I'm glad that there's obviously an audience for it in Columbus! This was our second time showing the movie, but the first time using a shadow cast and it made ALL THE DIFFERENCE in the entire experience. Our Producing Artistic... More

Recently went to the local production of "Sister Act". The Springer is a beautiful turn of the century opera house. When they restored it several years ago, they improved seating and the sound. You get the best of both worlds - old time architecture with modern technology.

This theater has been available to the area for well over 100 years. The interior reminds you of a large Ford Theater in Washington, DC. It's beautiful and offers venues for which you'd be required to pay at least twice as much. It offers summer programs for children and involves local talent as well as talent as far away as... More

I recently saw Beauty and the Beast at the Springer Opera House and it was amazing! The Springer is a historic theater right in the heart of downtown Columbus, Ga. It is within walking distance to several restaurants as well. It has a beautiful lobby and a bar to grab a drink during intermission. Check their scheduled shows and try... More

I have attended several productions at the Springer and have enjoyed everyone. I saw the Wizard of Oz a few years back and the production was fabulous. I wasn't sure how I would enjoy it, being a fan of the movie. I was very surprised. The cast was wonderful and the stage didn't take anything away from the magical experience... More

The Springer Opera House is an excellent place to take in a little history while you are watching a good live performance. It is "just the right size" for an evening of theater. Foley hall is not bad, but you must see a show in the original main theater to get the true experience.

The Springer is very unique. Beautiful decor and ambiance. This was my first year as a season ticket holder. The Springer has a variety of shows to suite each individual. You will laugh, cry, dance in your seat and want to sing along. The performers are very professional. They do not allow cell phones to be on in the theater which... More
