Opened in 1995 as a collaboration among Columbus State University, Columbus Water Works, and the City of Columbus, Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center provides exhibits, natural history displays, nature trails, and also offers formal and informal educational programs about the ecology and natural history of the region. Inside the center, visitors can view a variety of snakes, both venomous and non-venomous, turtles, tortoises, fish, alligators, invertebrates, and lots more. Visitors can take a walk down our trails to catch a glimpse of native wildlife, view our wetlands and ponds, or to explore our educational and fun Discovery Trail.

Took my daughter and about 5 friends on the canopy walk, a trail walk and just a stroll around the learning center for her 19th birthday. Had a groupon. Very inexpensive. We had a great time, the view from the canopy walk was spectacular!

They had different animals and plants from the area. It was a great sight to see with young and old. It is free and a great example of life in the area

This is a great place to spend time with the kids, grand kids, etc. You can decide how much or how little time to spend. Include a picnic lunch or not. Very good time for kids to see animals they've only read about: varieties of fish, reptiles, amphibians. Our intent on this most recent visit was to experience the Tree... More

Oxbow is a great place to take kids or go yourself to learn about local animals and have a up close experience. My kids love it and we even had my son's birthday party there.

Want to see some local fauna and flora? You must visit Oxbow Meadows. They have live alligators, gopher tortoises, fish, snakes, a look into a working beehive, and much more. Check their calendar for fun events for kids.

This is an awesome interactive attraction to completely "nerd out". Hands on family fun to learn without realizing it! Check out the website ahead of time to see the events!

They have alligators, snakes, turtles, etc.The kids loved their time there and there isn't a fee to enter but they take donations.

Going thru the trail and everything was amazing seeing the crew play with the turtles and snakes was also amazing I loved every bit of it
