This island blows tybee island away. I have been in georgia for two weeks, and been to both places. Don't bother with Tybee island. Make this a priority.

We choose the tram ride through the History Center and loved touring the interior of the two of the homes ( the only way that you can get into them). We learned a ton from Amanda, our guide.

It is a beautiful, interesting place, but with the way it has been restructured, it can be difficult to get to a specific location, especially if you have trouble walking long distances.

Good for ages 11+; younger children would be likely to find walking and reading markers boring. However, look into some of the guided tours.

This is a great place for historic building and monuments! And walks! Plus food! Highly recommended!

Tour lasts about 1.5 hrs and takes you by all the houses in the historic district. We got to tour 2 of the houses and found our guide to be very informative.

Took the trolley tour and learn all about the area. They took us in 2 houses and gave us the background information of the district. Take a bottle of water as it is 1.5 hr tour.

Interesting to see how Jekyll Island was during the Gilded Age. Some beautifully preserved buildings, cute shops

We are glad we took time to see the historic district, we found it to be very interesting. We only had time to ride through the area but well worth the time!

This beach was not bad as it was not very busy. There are no guards on duty so you are enjoying at your own risk. The shops in the area are very nice but the beach, while the sand is great and very soft, the...More

The airport choices are JAX or Savannah. They are nearly equidistant from Jekyll. There is a tiny airport in Brunswick, but it requires an expensive plane change. Charleston airport is a little less than 3.5hrs away... More

Walking around and seeing sights, absolutely! They do have some shops, but I'm not sure about lunch. They have some snack shops, but no actual restaurant.
