More
Open to one and all, the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir was inaugurated in August of 2007 after only 17 months of construction time utilizing 1.3 Million volunteer hours. The Mandir is comprised of 3 types of stone (Turkish Limestone, Italian marble, and Indian pink sandstone). More than 34,000 individual pieces were carved by hand in India, shipped to the USA and assembled in Lilburn like a giant 3-D puzzle.

I recently got to visit the gorgeous, elegant Hindu temple again. It's that wonderful not to show visitors, especially those into Bollywood. We wanted to wear sarees, start striking a pose, and take pictures. I've been going since it first opened in 2007. I got...More

Having visited India multiple times, I'm surprised to report that I've never seen a temple as magnificent as this Mandir. The intricacy and reverence for the details in the floor to ceiling carvings are astounding. We followed our visit to the Mandir with a stop...More

No need to follow the religion of the swami who organized and built this Mandir....I enjoyed just walking around the place! The stonework is exquisite Italian Carrera Marble inside, limestone and sandstone from other countries without. There are domes and towers ornately carved and fitted...More

Words cannot describe this beautiful monument. I watched them build it. It came together like millions of little bees forming the towers and base.

Yes, entrance is free. There is an audio tour available in the gift shop for $5, and we made a contribution at the service that we attended, but neither was required.
