I work there and anyone is welcome to roam the grounds at anytime except go into the museum area after hours many people want to explore but are afraid of getting arrested. as long as you are not damaging property or entering areas restricted which...More

Read a little about this amazing monstrosity (Central State Hospital Milledgeville) before our visit but was positively astounded once on the grounds. Definitely worth checking out particularly if you are fortunate enough to have a few locals available to show you around. We rode bikes...More

Yes, it is somewhat spooky looking and very sad at the same time. We did not find a lot of informational signs, and wish there was more posted about the history of the hospital. I did some research online and was fascinated by what I...More

Wow! This institution was fascinating and somewhat creepy! There are several buildings, some have windows you can peer inside and see how old and worn-out it is;and there is a Pecan grove at its center. Down the road is an old prison-also abandoned-and a cemetery.

Spooky to think that people stayed in this large empty facility. It looks a though they just up and left since 1974. There are no trespassing signs posted ten feet in front of the buildings as the grounds and buildings have been designated as unsafe....More

There are many buildings in this abandoned hospital and prison area. They are all fascinating to look at. There are security driving around everywhere and signs that unfortunately state no trespassing. I would have loved to get a better look inside these buildings. You can...More

Neat old buildings. I pulled into the road that goes around the brown buildings, got out, and snapped pictures. Signs said no tresspqssing, the grounds and buildings weren't safe. Fine, but roads weren't blocked off. I drove to the white hospital parking lot, stepped out...More

Will go back when I have more time. It is truly like driving through a ghost town. The facility is 2000 acres and the buildings are beautiful, I can only imagine how they looked when new. The buildings are haunting and as you look in...More

Not at all what I expected. Your GPS drives you up to 620 Broad St, and basically dumps you off in a HUGE deserted town! Feels like a college campus that was abandoned when everyone went to lunch and never came back. Haunting and sad,...More

To be sure, check in at the Visitors Center on Hancock St in downtown Milledgeville--they'll have the latest. As I understood, the grounds are generally open, but some of the cemetary space is closed, with an "exhibit" area... More
