The Battle of Bloody Marsh wasn’t called that when it happened. The battle pitted the Scottish Highlands Militia against Spanish troops. The victory literally ended the Northern expansion by Spain into the Americas

It might not seem like much now but, the battle that took place here in 1742, ended Spain’s claim to Georgia (and north). The Spanish troops outnumbered the British defenders. But the British stood their ground and were victorious.

We saw this from Colonial Trolley Tours. Rod explained the history and all about the characters on the board at the site. Who knew!

This is a nice place to stop on a bike ride. It's quiet, open and shady in the viewing area. There's not a lot to see but worth a peek if you have extra time. Would be nice for a picnic lunch or snack. It's...More

We visited this area by kayak. Learning the history of the name was interesting. A great marsh. Wonderful kayaking nearby.
