Amazing garden now even better with the Plas opened

The garden at Plas Brondanw was Clough Williams-Ellis's first landscaping project and probably formed the basis for his later work at Portmeirion. The garden is so well moulded to the landscape that even the surrounding mountains, Moel Ddu, Moel Hebog, yr Wyddfa and Cnicht, seem to form part of his master plan. The 16th century stone and slate Plas is... More

This is a small attraction that welcomes dogs. There is a cafe for lunch that keeps busy. The gardens are formal and always being worked on. Well worth the entrance fee for the views.

It wasn't apparent where the parking was as van obscured the sign and no cars parked to indicate this was parking, (maybe place the sign a little higher or and arrow on the right). Waved on by workmen and went a fair way past the garden ! Just in case you are confused too, the car park is on the... More

Beautiful gardens divided into several 'rooms' with stunning views of Snowdonia. Walk up to the tower (and climb to the top) for even more amazing views.

We were looking for a venue for our wedding in Wales as we visit every year for our anniversary and decided to do it around festival no6. We chose the venue after it being recommended by portmeirion - it is one of the most beautiful places and we fell in love with it! Lowri was amazing from our first visit... More

Plas Brondanw is a little gem: a compact, beautifully-designed and looked-after garden with a good café. Perhaps the biggest draw is the act that it was Clough Williams-Ellis's prototype for Portmeirion. So if you like Portmeirion, you must stop off here.

We discovered Plas Brondanw as it is part of the Historic Houses Association scheme. What a beautiful find - at each turn new garden views came into sight with the dramatic mountain scenery providing a wonderful backdrop. The topiary and hedges provided great structure and when we visited the hydrangeas and anemones were at their peak. A lovely cafe too... More

In the style of Portmeiron, topiary, and yews separate lots of secret gardens. Statues, avenues of hydrangeas and other flowers. Really peaceful and pretty. Views of snowdonia and nice little cafe.

Great views of the mountains from the garden. Lots of qwirky details. Small peaceful place, great contrast to Powis Castle. We were lucky enough to have a guided tour of the house by the curator who regaled us with many stories about Clough and the area- some of which may even have been true! Definitely worth a visit

We came across this garden purely by chance. What a fantastic little garden, well worth a detour. The home of Clough Williams-Ellis it shows in the building and garden structure. The gardens have only been open to the public for a couple of years, with a pleasant tea room and gift shop. Good toilet facilities.
