Jeff, our captain, headed south on the western side of the lake. Julie pointed out the stairs and funiculars needed to negotiate the steep hills from the houses to beach. She pointed out the Campfire Girls summer camp where she went in the summer. There...More

If you want to see the most scenic and beautiful lake in the northwest, you have to come here. It's the main thing that convinced us to move to CDA.

We visited Coeur d'Alene over a long weekend in October. The boat trip around the lake was delightful, the hosts at the wine tasting shop downtown were friendly and generous, and the shops were pleasant if unremarkable.

The lake has a nice bike path around it. We borrowed a couple bikes and rode several miles before turning around. I understand you can ride all the way around if ambitious enough. The path was well-maintained, and the lake was beautiful. Very pleasant way...More

We drove around the snowy lakeside and loved the winter wonderland feeling. Quiet and serene on a snowy winter day.

Yes the beach is free There are parking lots where you pay. Or just park on the street for free, 2 hour limit in close. Or go about four blocks away for free all day. We drive a 33foot motorhome so go 4 blocks away.

Take the low trail to the west around tubs hill. You will find a beach at the southern most point. This location is nearby downtown CDA.
