Lake Pend Oreille is a fantastic lake any time of the year. Fishing on the lake has come back! You can catch Kokanee now, as well as other types of fish. Fishing happens nearly any time of the year here. Summer is the best- I would say the only water sport that doesn't happen in LPO is surfing!

Captain Wes, who also delivers the local mail by boat, took us on a great boating tour and provided fascinating information about the lake, the surrounding areas, the excellent fishing, the native Americans of the area and (surprisingly) the important role of the lake in American military history. Captain Wes showed us (and I got photos of) bald eagles, mountain... More

Had a wonderful trip around the lake with Capt. Wes on the mail boat. Made reservation at Ralph's. In Bay View. Had good lunch at Ralph's who gave us lots of information about the lake and former Navy base. The BayView Shuttle LLC with Capt. Wes took us around the lake on his mail run. Great trip and wonderful Captain... More

I visited Lake Pend Oreille during the arts and crafts festival in August. The lake itself is beautiful and the city beach is a great place for families. There are boat rentals, bike rentals, and water toys, but I enjoyed a picnic in the grass and a walk beside the water.

I have to say... That out of all the amazing places I've experienced this lake has to be one of the top. Every single time I tell someone to go to Idaho, they look at me funny.. And I totally understand why. However, the city of Sandpoint and the lake are two huge jewels standing against potato fields in the... More

We stayed at the Sam Owen Campground and couldn't believe how spectacular this lake was. We wished we had more time to spend admiring the lake and the mountains. I almost hate writing a review, because I want to keep it a "hidden gem".

What a gorgeous lake. Stayed in the Sam Owen campground and boated for 2 days. Visited several restaurants in the area, Garfield Bay was nice and boating into Sandpoint was unforgettable! Would go again for sure!

I've seen this lake in many seasons and it always make me just want to stop and soak up the scenery. I love trains... there are bridges that are for trains across this lake...seeing mega tons of brute force gliding across a lake is just fascinating to me. You can enjoy trains around the clock in this area!!! Back to... More

This is a beautiful lake. We rented a home on the cliff overlooking the lake in Hope ID, we had views all around. Trees, flowers, birds chirping, beautiful and relaxing (with the exception of the trains going by, which can be a lot at certain times). We love the small town of Sandpoint, great shops, local restaurants. It reminds us... More

This is a very large lake. The lake holds the world record for lake trout. The summer and early fall is great for skiing, sailing, kayaking and fishing. You can take a boat and travel to one of the restaurants on the lake have lunch and cruise the lake. In the winter you are only 30 to 40 minutes away... More
