A lot to see and very nicely put together.

This is a great site to see and re-live some of the past. It was clean and interesting to step back and see the history of the area..

This is another place that everyone should visit while traveling in Idaho city. The preservation of history throughout this museum is great. The staff is very friendly and they have a number of exhibits dedicated to the Boise basin.

I was amazed by how little we actually knew about the history of Idaho City, Boise and Idaho in general. This museum brought the story to life. Young kids up to teens will love this as much as adults. The docents are well versed and adjust the story to the audience. There are hands on displays that the kids loved.... More

Tiny museum of Idaho City's gold mining history, run by local folks. The lively lady who showed us around made the story come alive for my teens. Worth the stop. Regret that we couldn't go on her walking tour of the town, but it was too hot.

I thought this little museum had a lot of information about the gold rush in the Boise Basin. The museum guide gave a great talk and was very knowledgeable about the history of the area. She was also very friendly win our family.

My visit of Idaho City was a surprise. I expected the town to be different. Also, I was not sure what to expect of the Boise Basin Museum. The town is small and old. The historic district is best described as a living ghost town (and that is meant to sound as a positive comment). The museum covers the history... More

Idaho City was a BOOM TOWN in 1864, with miners coming from around the US and the world to try their fortunes in one of the least remembered gold rushes of the era. The town itself was far from unknown as at one time it is reported to have been home to between 25,000 and 30,000 residents. It also, unfortunately,... More
