Imagine an encounter with giant dinosaurs, the fascination of seeing the actual artifacts of the first explorers to conquer the South Pole 100 years ago, or the allure of creatures that can create their own light. At the Museum of Idaho, you can surround yourself with these wonders of the world. The Museum of Idaho is the intermountain west's premier museum in providing nationally and internationally acclaimed exhibits to the surrounding areas. Showcasing both traveling and permanent exhibits, we are dedicated to preserving and educating the public in the sciences, the humanities, and the natural and cultural history.

Jan. 31 - Sep. 1, 2014

The Museum of Idaho is proud to be the 5th museum in the world to host this exhibition, which recounts one of the most stirring tales of Antarctic exploration. Filled with triumph and tragedy, this story chronicles the epic journey of two competing teams in their quest to be the first to reach the South Pole.

Sep. 26 - Nov. 29, 2014

Have you ever wondered how strange sea creatures light up the ocean? Or what makes a firefly glow? This family-friendly exhibition dives deep into the darkest corners of our earth to shed some light on this fascinating phenomena which allows creatures to produce light for communicating, camouflage, attracting prey, and for other reasons scientists still don't understand.

A really great, small museum.

This is the nicest museum in Idaho, far surpassing the Idaho Historical Museum in Boise. There are permanent exhibits on the history of the urban and natural area, but the Museum also brings in very high quality special exhibitions. A very memorial Egyptian exhibit (and I've been to Egypt), an excellent exhibit with rare and historically important religious texts and... More

This quite the museum for a small city like Idaho falls. It has exhibits detailing idahos history back to the conception of the United States. It was very nice as well as a traveling pirates exhibition. The price was a bit steep at 20 something a person otherwise overall a good experience

After receiving an invitation my friend to visit Idaho Falls, I realized I knew virtually nothing about the state --- except for it's potatoes. If you were in the same category a trip to the museum of Idaho is a must. This little museum is quite impressive. About two thirds of the museum is taken up by rotating exhibits, such... More

For a small time museum, the Museum of Idaho continually puts on a world class exhibit. Many times items displayed are only seen in the big time museums.

I know this is a very small museum but tells a lot about the very Idaho history. I found it very interesting and informative. They were also having a special expedition in regards to the civil war. I thought it was really nice that they had volunteers around the exhibit to explain much more than what you're abou I thought... More

With several history buffs in our family, we had to make the trip for the American Revolution exhibit, and we were not disappointed. The artifacts and vignettes were fascinating and extremely well organized. Whoever designed the exhibit has a very cool job and does it with flair. Even my twelve-year-old daughter who doesn't care about history was surprised that two... More

We went here to see the atomic power exhibits and they were very interesting as was the rest of the museum. What was really surprising was the extensive exhibit on the Revolutionary War. It was excellent.

I have been to many museums in smaller towns in the Western United States and this one rates an "okay". The staff was helpful. They need to have more information on Idaho, if they are going to call it the Museum of Idaho. It was more of early history of the United States with a few small exhibits related to... More

Wow this was an amazing exhibit. In our current election time it reminds us of the heroic endeavors that common men took on and became uncommon men, heroes, and nation builders!

The museum had a travelling exhibit that was very educational and interesting. The museum itself also had a nice set of regular exhibits that we enjoyed touring. The layout is nice and the staff was friendly. Definitely a highlight of Idaho Falls and we'll probably visit again.
