Great collection of modern art. Also good collection of impressionist paintings. Love the miniature rooms. Nice places to sit and rest and have a snack. Good gift shops in both buildings.

What a fantastic museum - the exhibits were spectacular. To be able to see in person the paintings you have studied in an art history class was an absolute thrill. The lower level houses the Miniature Rooms exhibit - the detail in these little rooms...More

Admire works of Monet, Pissaro, Renoir, Van Gogh, Manet, Picasso, Gauguin, and El Greco to name a few. I am a big fan of their special exhibits and the Modern wing. You'd see Rothko, Matisse, Pollock... Stop by the cafe in the basement. Eat outside...More

Well worth the visit. I am not a museum buff, but this one was incredible. Really worth the visit. There is an amazing amount of great exhibits in addition to their huge impressionist collection.

I'm embarrassed that it took all this time for me to write a review of one of my home-town favorites. (I've been writing about places I've visited...and not the wonderful places I take for granted:-(...) The highlights of their collection coincide with the accumulation of...More

Even if you are not into art this place is special. Unbelievable artifacts of past civilization and modern 20th Century masterpieces. Check out the photo room in the basement. Always changing exhibitions and helpful staff. This place is an A plus.

Often visitors' first stop in Chicago, The Loop is a
good starting point to sample the city's energy and
flavor. This central business district boasts
Michelin-rated restaurants, upscale hotels, premier
shopping, and enough arresting architecture to keep
your camera busy for hours. You won’t find too many
photo galleries of downtown Chicago without a shot of

I would also suggest you get the headset where you punch in a number and your hear a fuller explanation about the art work. It cost $7. Highly recommended.

Yes! And you can purchase it on line and print it out at home. I don't think it is very much more expensive than general admission either. Go for it !
