Love every step in Magnificent Mile

The shopping and sights was wonderful being our first time in Chicago. If your staying at the James, Magnificent Mile is a few steps away.

Michigan Avenue is one my favorite places when I visit Chicago. The window shopping is great. The city does an outstanding job in landscaping. All the hustle and bustle is fun.

Although there are a few cool buildings along the way, who cares about a bunch of fancy shops? Not me. What I do recommend instead is to do a self guided architectural walking tour around the loop. Just google "self-guided architectural walking tour" and you'll find lots of cool buildings in the area with information about their history. That I... More

When the weather is nice don't miss to go for an extended walk and soak up the history of Chicago. Have a peak into the Intercont - awesome.

The best area to stay in the city. Central to everything and everywhere. Finest accomadations, shopping, nitelife and dining. You can walk to blues clubs, Navy Pier, steakhouses, speakeasys, Millenium Park, even Wrigley (we did)! It's a hike but the scenery is beautiful as is the gradual change in neighborhoods and architecture. Sofitel, Talbot, numerous great places to stay here.

We enjoyed our day shopping and walking along the busy North Michigan Avenue. There are so many opportunities to browse and shop; Nordstrom, Apple, Nike and so many restaurants. We especially enjoyed the opportunity to take a boat tour of the city.

My husband and I took a weeklong vacation to Chicago for some R&R. We stayed at the Marriott on the Magnificent Mile, allowing us to be in close proximity to restaurants, shops, movies and more. Everything was conveniently located.

Staying in Magnificent Mile

Neighbourhood Profile
Magnificent Mile
Over 400 stores pack the concrete along Michigan Avenue, the eight-block stretch known as Magnificent Mile. This area between Oak Avenue and the Chicago River is more a shopping paradise than a full-out neighborhood. For prime upscale shopping, this is the place to go. It’s busy, energetic, and packed with shoppers. You'll also find hundreds of restaurants and dozens of hotels, all on the mid- to high-end scale. Some of the city’s most iconic buildings like the Wrigley Building, John Hancock Center and other architectural marvels define the magnificence of this neighborhood.
