This was a treat for the whole family! We were able to see Chicago's famous architecture as well as relax on the boat riding down the river.

We took the Water Taxi 2 times. We rode from the Skydeck to Navy Pier and then also from Navy Pier to the museum complex where we saw the Shedd Aquarium. It was fun as transportation since the weather was good.

I took the water taxi twice on my trip. I bought the all day pass for $9.00. The boats are very nice and comfortable. This was my first time taking them and I will definitely do it again when I go to the city.

We took the Chicago River Taxi from the Chicago River at Michigan Avenue south to Chinatown. The senior rate is $2.50 each way and I think full price is $5.00. Compared to the escorted / narrated boat trips at $35.00, this is a huge bargain...More

I discovered Chicago Water Taxi recommendations on Tripadvisor and they were right on. Convenient, cheap, and scenic. We were able to get to Shedd Aquarium from the downtown Union Station/Willis Tower stop via the Navy Pier and back again with very little wait time. An...More

Magnificent Mile
Over 400 stores pack the concrete along Michigan
Avenue, the eight-block stretch known as Magnificent
Mile. This area between Oak Avenue and the Chicago
River is more a shopping paradise than a full-out
neighborhood. For prime upscale shopping, this is the
place to go. It’s busy, energetic, and packed with
shoppers. You'll also find hundreds of restaurants and
dozens of hotels, all on the mid- to high-end scale.

I am going to be there Christmas and New Years. Does the river ever freeze over so they can't run the boat tours? I hope I can go in a boat tour or taxi around via the water!!

Can you stay on the taxi and enjoy the ride if you have a day pass? Or do you have to get off at each stop?

I believe your ticket takes you where you want to go. I bet you could stay on the boat and just ride around I have not tried it.
