This sanctuary is features in Lizzie Williams' guidebook on Grenada, St Vincent and the Grenadines, and is well worth the visit. Orton "Brother" King is a former diver who has rescued hawksbills for over 23 years after giving up his diving career. Once we left...More

The Hawksbill turtle has been exploited for many years with people after their beautiful shells, their eggs or their meat. Various estimates suggest that there has been an 80% decline in their numbers in a century. They are now officially classified as "critically endangered". So...More

Happened by when we were out on an island tour. It's pretty basic, essentially a concrete-floor hut with sectioned aquariums containing turtles of various ages and notes explaining that they're rescued as eggs, raised up then released into the wild at the age of 5,...More

Excellent time spent here listening to Mr King. Make sure you get him and not his miserable teenage son who will put you off the place for life and obviously wants to be elsewhere. The old man is committed to his turtles and all I...More

We disagree with the folks who criticize this place. The owner is doing a great service. The tanks are clean, the animals well cared for and then they are released. No one else is doing as much to support the turtles of the area. Go...More
