Did a tour and was not that impressed. Lots of mountains and sand. Really not that much to see. A really rough ride to get there.

This is a must-do day trip from Swakopmund. Photos don't do it justice and it is quite a spectacular sight. Be sure to visit Goanikontes Oasis Rest Camp nearby for lunch in their amazing kid-friendly restaurant.

It was hot an sunny... highly recommend a hat and sunblock, but what a breath taking view... remember there is no store or bar close by so ensure you stay hydrated in the landscape there were a restaurant... but it was a bit of a drive and we enjoyed lunch there.

Once a big mountain range, erosion has reduced it to rolling, low-lying hills.
For the past two million years, the Swakop River and its many tributaries flowed through this valley, giving it life and shaping the natural phenomenon you see today. According to geologists, the group of hills was pushed up through the earth’s surface about 500 million years ago.
The area is a photographer’s heaven. On misty mornings, when the coastal fog penetrates between the hills, the valley can be described as ghostlike. But once the sun has risen high in the sky and the fog has dispersed, the lunar landscape can be seen in all its colours and contours. Be sure to spend some time at the lookout point.

It was a perfect day to visit the replica of the moon in the Namib desert, the clear sky and cool morning wind contributed to a stunning view.

A lovely days outing to see the moon landscape - all the different colours are just amazing. We got to see the Welwitschia plants as well - all very fascinating. Well worth a drive.

Why not 5 stars.

The appreciation for being alive and thankful for nature and what God created.

There is nothing, yet there is everything.

Driving in the desert and arriving at this site makes you appreciate the beauty of nature. While not a big canyon it is still amazing to appreciate, especially the rock formations and the substance that makes up the ground structure. It amazes one to think, appreciate and wonder over how long a period and how long ago water must have eroded this magnificant landscape and structures.
