A fantastic collection of Route 66 memorabilia and information for anyone planning to retrace the route and an exceptional museum host in Rose. We spent a very enjoyable hour exploring the museum.

First of all, for a small town, I was amazed at how much Pontiac had to offer. It actually has 4 museums! The Route 66 museum is definitely the highlight. It well organized, has a great array memorabilia to view and the volunteer staff is delightfully and informed. Upstairs there is second museum that is a great flashback to the... More

This was a museum packed with information and artefacts related to America's Mother Road - Route 66. We loved looking inside the converted school bus parked outside - the authentic way to get along route 66. The mural trail is also worth seeing as is the war museum of uniforms in the same building. We could have spent much longer... More

Housed in a historic firehouse, the museum displays significant Illinois artifacts from along Route 66. THE ROUTE 66 MURAL IS ON THE BACK WALL OF THE MUSEUM. DO NOT MISS ONE OF THE BEST PHOTO OPS ON ROUTE 66!

A rather small museum with limited information about the "Mother Road", we did enjoy our visit and saw some things we had not seen before at other musuems.

The museum was informative. It had lots of Route 66 artifacts and memorabilia. The staff, though volunteers were quite knowledgable. Not only is the museum worth a visit; so is the town of Pontiac, Il. It brings back the feeling of Route 66 in it's heyday. The shops on the square and the advertising murals on the brick buildings are... More

Pontiac in Illinois is a town which has geared itself for Route 66 travellers. The museum is an excellent location to get some of the history of the route and also has local history as well. The outside of the building has an excellent mural to Route 66. There are a number of buildings surrounding the museum which have also... More

What a great use of the historic with the old and historic 66 memorabilia from bygone eras. The volunteer staff are exceptional and one can tell they love their 'job' and regaling history that should be remembered along the Mother Road. If you are lucky enough to see Bob Waldmires school bus home, you are lucky! It's the original tiny... More
