The gardens and Fresco restaurant (open for breakfast and lunch only) are a tremendous pair. The gardens are world renown and the restaurant overlooking the pond and the natural beauty are a perfect compliment to each other. Fresco has unique offerings and they did a great job with my food allergies.

Went to Rockford for a day trip and the gardens was the highlight of my trip. So peaceful, I spent 2 hours relaxing and reading in one of the chairs soaking in the beauty and the calm. Took me about 30 min to walk around the entire garden and I enjoyed it so much I made a second loop :)

Decided to stop here on the way back from a weekend in Galena and it was a highlight of our getaway. Beautiful fall colors only added to the splendor of the garden. So much thoughtful attention to detail is evident here. Imagine feeling like you're in Japan when in reality you're in Rockford; that is magical in and of itself.

Visited first time and the gardens are beautiful and the landscapes were done and maintained beautifully. We were told that they brought in specialists from Japan and did this garden. A must see.

Authentic to the minutest detail. Tea ceremonies, guest speakers and programs, Generally good Japanese food (not Cheap). Very serene and calming to walk and to sit and enjoy the tranquility, There is a second Garden in a more European style that is also very nice.

Drove 90 minutes to get here and it was worth every mile. Very Reasonable pricing. The colors were magnificent and easy to take memorable photos. The property is well maintained and has a Japanese feel throughout. Two large ponds separated by stone and rock paths. Waterfalls and gurgling streams. The restaurant seemed quite popular also. We loved it and will... More

If you like quiet, peaceful, beautiful surrondings this place is for you. If you and/or your offspring are incapable of being quiet and respectful please go somewhere else.
