There is so much natural beauty to see in Iceland, but Jökulsárlón is by far one of the most beautiful sights I have ever seen. We spent a decent amount of time there, but it still didn't seem like enough between the crystal beach and...More

The glacier lagoons were and still are my number one stop in Iceland. We came here on a 2 day trip with Extreme Iceland and I can only recommend takeing a tour during the winter. The roads were slick and icy. This lagoon is huge....More

This place just blew me away and has become one of my fave places that I have visited anywhere. Had the most amazing clear day when we visited which probably helped but it was just such a beautiful place. Recommend a detour from anywhere to...More

This place completely blew me away. It's a long drive from Reykjavik. Break it up over two, even three days if you can. There are plenty of other sites to see along the way. Sample itinerary: Day 1: Golden Circle + Secret Lagoon Day 2:...More

Jokaulsarlon ice lagoon is a glacial lake filled with a huge number of icebergs, remnants of calvings off the Breidamerkurjokull glacier (a tongue of the Vatnajokull ice cap). From the shore just off Highway 1 you can view and photograph the icebergs as they float...More

We drove in our rental car around 5 hours to get here but it was worth it. Unlike anything I've seen, it's not necessary to pay for a tour, you can get there easily and access the lagoon without a guide.

Took my breath away. In the top ten things I have seen in my life - and I have travelled extensively. I couldn't stop staring at it. Mesmerising. There are not the right words to describe its beauty. We went for a day trip. Well...More

Just out of this world. The ice was so beautiful and even in November it was not that cold. Just dress for it: Long underwear base + pants, snow pants if you have them. Don't forget your yaktrax too! The beach was beautiful as well....More

It really depends on your onward travel plans but allow at least an hour, can't say about the boat tours since we didn't take one

Hi! I am thinking of going for a day from Selfoss, then spending the night in Vik. Do you recommend doing some kind of tour when you get there or is it something to just explore on your own? I have 2 kids 11 & 13. Thank you!!

I definitely think you can explore this area on your own! The beauty of Iceland is that there is so many natural attractions that you don't have to pay for and kids will love it! Across from jokulsarlon is diamond beach... More
