Being a Brit. and excuse me if that sounds patronising, but I wasn't expecting much of this museum. What could there possibly be of much interest in a small town museum in the U.S that could not be seen at home ? I have to say, I was most pleasantly surprised. They have native American Indian stuff that was really... More

The collection of ancient, medieval and modern art was impressive beyond description. There were some serious pieces here that I've only seen in textbooks. Some of the art was so famous and incredible that we were nearly moved to tears. We are museum fanatics and have seen many, many less impressive museums. Don't miss this one if you are anywhere... First is the building itself. Designed by I.M. Pei, renowned Modernist Architect, It is very beautiful on a campus with many beautiful Gothic buildings already. The attraction is free, which is a huge plus. You normally can't find this level of quality for free anymore. I would recommend this museum to anyone with eye for the arts.

African, Egyptian, European and more. Paintings, sculpture, jewelry, and many other cultural artifacts. Docents are very helpful and will set up guided tours for groups. Rotating exhibits keep it fresh.

I'm a medievalist and this museum has just enough to keep me interested. The greek/roman art is especially abundant. The other neat aspect of this museum is its design. Apparently there are almost no right angles inside. But therein lies a problem -- I can't stand the crooked stairs. They drive me nuts - I always feel like I'm going... More

Setting on the campus of Indiana University is a unique modern architecture building among old European architecture of the campus. Quite a wide variety of art collections from a vast period of time. The lower floor contains some beautiful Christian art and artifacts from hundreds of years ago. A tour of the floors, reveals everything from modern to traditional arts.

The actual building is beautiful. Designed by I. M. Pei. We saw 2 of the 3 stories as we ran out of time. We liked the first floor the best as it had mostly contemporary art. The museum has a nice collection but nothing earth shattering. It is a nice way to spend 1-2 hours in the heat or cold... More

No right angles in I.M. Pei's building. Striking entry area with lots of light. The galleries have wonderful collections that the students and visitors can savor.
