The Miller House is a step back in time to middle century modern. Our docent was well read in his knowledge of the house. We could ask questions and Bob knew the answers. The house and grounds are a feast for the eyes. Don't miss it.

We did the Miller House and Garden Tour and had a great time. The tour was very well run and the guide, very well informed. I will go back and do the city architecture tour in the near future. Mr. Miller's house is amazing, especially considering that it was built over 50 years ago! My wife and I were slack-jawed,... More

Columbus is touted as a place to see modern architecture and it certainly is. Visually the buildings are very nice and make for great photos. However, I had an opportunity to tour the police department and city hall on a rainy day. They're the same building. City hall looked tired and very dated. I suppose that's the problem with 70's... We were super happy we took this tour of the Miller House and Garden. The house is not just "another rich person's mansion tour" like tours on plantations and in east coast cities often are. This house is architecturally unique, dramatic, and interesting. It is not old or dramatically ornate but rather exudes simplicity and light and aesthetic care and... More

Enjoyed the Miller house tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the house and the family. Spoke to various shop owners in town who also talked about the house confirming what we learned during the tour. The people in Columbus were very friendly. I will go back and plan to do the other tours offered, even going on the house... More

A fascinating story of how architecture changed a town - for the better! We did the bus tour which included two stops at churches where we were able to walk around the sanctuaries. The tour guide was a volunteer who had lived in the area many years. The story of how the town got into the Modernist architecture was interesting... More

An enjoyable and informed tour of the Miller House designed by masters... architect Eero Saarinen, landscape architect Dan Kiley and the interior designer/textile designer Alexander Girard (who worked for Herman Miller), which also included insights into the Miller family's use of the property as their principal residence from the 1950s into the early years of the 21st century.

Columbus, Indiana, is an architectural treasure, and a tour of the Miller House is definitely a must-see for anyone interested in mid-century modern design. The tour guides are knowledgeable, and the staff at the Visitors' Center could not be more helpful. One tip: Book your tour well in advance. The tours fill up quickly.

I had a few hours to kill during a business trip and signed up for the tour. Columbus is somewhat famous for its architecture and I really only understood why once I did the tour. Also, I needed to have it pointed out to me that the library building looks like books on a shelf! The tour is well worth... More
