A very interesting tour of a restored, operational LST. The tour is guided by volunteers who are informative, they explain all about the operation and mission of these ships. I was surprised by how large the vessel is. They explain that all maintenance, operation, and management of the museum are performed by volunteers. The only disappointment was that we couldn't... LST 325 is an incredible piece of WWII history. Well worth the visit and tour. Even my wife, who was itching to go antiquing, enjoyed the tour inside & out of the ship.

Traveled from WV to Indiana for multiple purposes, this being one of the majors. Dad served in the Amphibious Navy on an Landing Ship Tank during World War II; thus our interest in visiting, We certainly were not disappointed as our hour-long tour aboard this ship to be amazing! While much restoration has been done and ongoing maintenance necessary, the... More

The pride of Evansville, IN LST 325 is the only Navy monument capable of independent movement. LST 325 is a faithful restoration of a working "workhorse of the sea" that carried US soldiers and Marines to war during WWII and Korea. The Memorial is also a tribute to the city's contribution to the war effort which saw 167 LSTs and... More

We found the LST on the Ohio River near Evansville while on a road trip. We are interested in history and decided to take a tour. Volunteers conduct these tours so don't expect them to start right on time. Our tour lasted about an hour with a very informed guide. Be aware that there are some steep steps to climb... More

My wife and I, along with her mother, visited the LST-325 on a hot day in August. First lesson learned was that it is hot inside, and hydration is essential. Second lesson was that those with mobility concerns, or difficulty with stairs, will find this vessel a potentially-prohibitive challenge Now, why visit ...because it is (at least in our eyes)... The last sea-worthy LST in existence. If you are a history or WWII buff, you have to see this. They usually make a summer voyage up or down the Ohio, sometimes further, stopping at various cites. On these trips, people wait for hours to take the guided tour. Come to Evansville and you won't have to wait more than a... More

Landing Ship Tanks were a valuable vessel used in WW2 & were heavily relied on with the D-Day landings & the retaking of islands in the Pacific. Many were built in shipyards along the Ohio River. This ship is one of the few remaining; she was acquired from the Greek Navy & bought back to America to be restored. As... More

Did not take a tour as it was a hot day but stopped by the gift shop and looked in awe at the piece of history.
