We went to the IMA yesterday for lunch and a casual glance at some of the work. We ended up spending 4 hours getting lost amongst the various exhibits. This place is magical and a must see if you're in Indy. Not a lot for kids to see BUT the modern exhibits with the furniture and the sculptures are enough... More

We spent hours here. Lots of impressionist art, and a section on design in objects was interesting. Free for local college kids, adults $14. Free parking. Worth another visit

Think of a large park or botanical garden, that also has an historical mansion and BTW also an art museum. That's the IMA. If I lived in the area, I would definitely be a member. The day I visited was 72 degrees in Feb, and so many bulbs were in bloom: crocus, snow drop, hellebore and even some daffodils in... More

Took my 2 1/2 year old to the art museum. Seeing the displays through his eyes was enthralling. His behavior was excellent as he is the little "follow the rules" guy. He and I were connected by a shirt wrist to wrist Kinderkord. Immediately, I was informed that a leash was against the museum's rules. I told the guard that... More

Definitely one of the top 5 attractions in Indy. Close by some of the others: Crown Hill Cemetery, Butler University, Shortridge HS, North Meridian and several others. Lots of old Indy.

This was our family's first time to visit Indy's Museum of Art. We love the art collection inside and truly enjoyed the gardens outside. We will come back!! I wish they had a discount for AAA members

....…is now, at last after the 2005 extension opened, in a reasonable state, with a clear route in and up to the galleries, what then? Poor signage means that you are thereafter on your own, so follow your nose as there is no clear route, nothing chronological about the presentation and it is poorly laid out. By a process of... This museum is easy to navigate with escalators located at the entrance. Volunteers may also help you may your way though the 4-stories that encapsulate the building. The art collection is varied with works from across the globe and even includes portraits of some famous Hoosiers. One visit may not allow you enough time to look at the various attractions.... Beautiful place, really good collection, important artists, interesting things to do, definitely a good spot to feed our soul. And.. for "the fault in our starts" it's really close to "funky bones" art. Deserves a special visit.
