I loved history and so does my boyfriend so we decided to go to the War Memorial. It's a gorgeous building with lots of information about the major wars and Indiana's role in it all. I'm not from Indiana and had never been there, but it had so much information and I wasn't bored at all! My favorite was the... More

Much of the Civil War history is in the east, but there is quite a bit of it in the mid-west as well. This memorial has a museum below full of Civil War artifacts, flags, uniforms, etc. and it's fascinating to see. The memorial itself is HUGE. Plan on 2 hours to appropriately see it all.

Able to see for miles and miles. Wonderful view and very respectful of our Veterans. Typical building architecture for area but I was in awe as this building and the upkeep. Very impressed.

Living in Indianapolis, I have been fortunate to visit the Indiana War Memorial on a number of times. On this occasion, I was honored to be with the Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association for their Annual Convention of the Ohio River LZ Chapter. What a terrific group of extraordinary American Air Mobile Warriors...and their wives! On this occasion, we had dinner... More

I've been to Indy plenty of times, but never had made it to the Indiana War Memorial until a few weeks ago. I had no idea there was a museum inside. A FREE museum no less. The building itself is impressive looking. People were wandering around, running the steps and just hanging out the day we were there. it was... More

Located in downtown Indianapolis, the Indiana War Memorial shows a timeline with American involvement in armed conflict. Highlight for the vast collection of armaments of the first and second world war. The place is certainly worth a visit. Free entrance

Definitely worth a visit. You could spend the whole day there, especially going thru the museum part downstairs. But don't pass up going upstairs to the shrine - breathtaking! Look closely at some of the artwork - many of the paintings downstairs are original by local military veteran's. (J. Flack to name one of them). This is an excellent tribute... More
