Didn't know that Indianapolis has the 2nd highest number of military memorials behind Washington, DC. This memorial to WW1 is larger than it appears with a large museum in the basement floors and also a beautiful auditorium and meeting rooms. Stop and see the reassembled radio room of the USS Indianapolis, several veterans gave us a personal tour of the... More

My husband and I walked to the museum from the soldiers and sailers monument, short walk. I had no idea what to expect, but saw something in the other museum that said it was a "must see". The museum is really good. They walk you through major conflicts and progress with time. After walking the museum from first level, I... More

I've been visiting Indianapolis for many years to see family but this was my first trip to the war memorial. It was fantastic. The museum is very extensive and the architecture is amazing. The shrine is breathtaking. We did it with a two-and-a-half-year-old and survived!

A recent visit found very few other tourists. Such a pity because this FREE attraction included stunning architecture, informative static displays honoring our military and solemn plaques and monuments of remembrance to those who have sacrificed so much.

You can swing by this and check it out in 10 minutes or so. Also, there's an amazing museum in the basement which covers Indianapolis's role in every War in U.S. History. We spent about a hour there.

The Indiana World War Memorial houses a really cool military museum inside that is free. If you can, budget 2-3 hours to check it all out as it is pretty large. This museum touches on all of America's wars with really well done exhibits. We preferred this museum to the Civil War museum at the Soldiers & Sailors Monument (although... More

From the moving soundtrack upon entering the memorial (from the "Glory" soundtrack) to the stunning architecture in the very solemn yet breathtaking Shrine Room, this is not to be missed when in downtown Indy. The museum has enough history to spend a full day!

Good historical war lessons. Bought some wonderful souvenirs. The tower was closed though and couldn't get a view of the city from the tower..

This memorial is dedicate to World War I. The shrine room has displays dedicate to Hoosier generals that fought in the war. It is quite beautiful and very solemn. This memorial is a great place for history enthusiasts to visit; but it would be less interesting to regular sightseers.

The outside and grounds of the memorial are breathtaking! Take some extra time to visit the museum and the rest of the memorial inside. The attention to detail in the fabrication of the memorial is something that is seldom seen today. The museum is very informative in regards to Indiana's military history. Some of the exhibits need a little updating... More
