If you love drums and music this is a Must See attraction. How many places do you take the kids and you have to say "don't touch" or "shhhh"? Not here. You and the kids can spend hours playing hundreds of different percussion instruments and be as loud as you like! Definitely my favorite stop in Indy!

A drum "discovery center" and museum soooo cool...and FUN...for people of ANY age with or without an interest in music or rhythm. This is a surprise jewel that is worth choosing over a "name" museum. Not huge, but so fascinating and hands-on that you spend more time than you expect.

We wanted a place to spend our afternoon in Indianapolis that our 3 year old and 1 year old would enjoy that wouldn't cost a fortune. The Rhythm! Discover Center fit the bill perfectly. Kids under 5 and under are free and while the the Discovery Center isn't that big, there's enough to do that you could easily spend an... More

Visited Discovery Center for jazz concert. What a treat! As evidenced by large number of parents with kids, this is place is not just for percussion fans. Interesting displays on all types of drums, history of drumming and technology behind the sounds. Fun to see drum kits from bands of the past and how science has influenced sounds of today.... More

I spent 45 minutes in this museum, but I didn't play the drums! You are invited to play, and if you do you could spend a lot more time. The collection includes African, Polynesian and Western drums. The older stuff is roped off but modern drums can be played. There is a very nice display showing the evolution of electronic... More

Down below street level, below the Arts Garden that bridges over a downtown intersection, is the Rythm Discovery Center. Never suspected it was there until a friend suggested I visit. Wow! As a music lover, this is a really great, unique experience. Very interesting historic and ethnic drum exhibits, but the best part is that you get to PLAY with... More

Had SUCH a great time with my 4 kiddos, ages 2, 5, 7, 9, & hubby. It was surprisingly affordable for our crew, hubby got a discount for being a student. I am a drummer & my kiddos share the same love, but it would be enjoyable for anyone! Just make a point to go sans headache, and I recommend... More

As a percussionist, I've been looking forward to visiting this place for years. Finally got the chance to take my kids there this week. They loved the hands-on aspect...especially the sound-proof rooms letting them pound away. Myself, as a trained percussionist, was let down by the experience - it could've been so much better. The condition of the hands-on exhibits... More

We attended a wedding and reception at the Rhythm Discovery Center but enjoyed touring the center and playing instruments while we were there. This has to go on a must visit list for visitors to downtown Indianapolis as well as field trips for pre-schoolers through serious high school age musicians. The history provided is great and the hands on opportunities... More

I took some young friends and we all had fun. We were between 10 - 55 years old and everyone liked it. Lots of chances to play about any kind of percussion instrument you can thing of. We were there at a slow time so there wasn't any waiting. It's self guided. I think it would have been even better... More
