Hinkle Fieldhouse has reigned as one of the nation's great sports arenas...

Hinkle Fieldhouse has reigned as one of the nation's great sports arenas for more than eight decades. The classic facility was constructed in 1928 and it has stood up to the test of time, maintaining the splendor, character and atmosphere that made it one of the nation's most famous basketball arenas for nearly a century. Hinkle Fieldhouse was home to Indiana High School basketball's "Hoosier Hysteria" tournament until 1971 and is currently home to Butler basketball and volleyball. The current capacity after the most recent renovation is 9,100. The Fieldhouse was named to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983, and declared a National Historic Landmark in 1987. Hinkle is open during regular business hours Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for free self-guided tours. Tickets are required for home athletic contests.

A great place to watch a great basketball team! The Big East is a strong league-any team could win any game. Historic Hinkle was once the largest basketball fieldhouse but today it is among the smaller... Not a bad seat in the house!

The renovations are great! Attended Butler vs Providence men's basketball game 1/1. The fans here are the best! Not disrespectful of the opponents like many places these days. New seats are comfortable for a stadium.

I know I might be prejudiced but I feel there is nothing greater than to see a Butler Basketball game played to a full house. I have come to many games at Butler from when I was a high school student during Indiana State tournaments. I graduated from Butler and now a season ticket holder. The feeling and atmosphere can't... We walked around the campus and went in Hinkle Fieldhouse. It was easy to get in. This brings back a lot of memories. I was here for the 1961 State high school basketball finals and it was packed. It looks like less seats now, but everything looks new. I liked walking around and looking at the display showcases and reading... More

A business trip back to Indianapolis allowed me a chance to stop by my alma mater, and to spend a little time touring one of the country's top college basketball venues. While I'd been to a few Butler men's b-ball games since Hinkle's 2013 renovation, I hadn't had a chance to examine the exhibit stations or really soak in the... More

Home of the state finals in the movie Hoosiers and also the butler Bulldogs basketball team. An old school field house that every Indiana resident and Indiana high school basketball fan should visit at least once.

Home of the Butler Bull dogs and State High basketball tournament. One of few historic field houses still around. To go there is to feel taken back in history when people congregated together in true spirit of healthy competition. Great to see history preserved.
